“Ebenezer Scrooge: A Christmas Carol” is directed by Concord composer, David MacAdam who wrote the adaptation while living in England, where it was first produced in 1984.

New Life Fine Arts' spiritually uplifting musical adaptation of the 1843 Charles Dickens' classic tells the story of the tight-fisted curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge, and his personal transformation as he is supernaturally confronted with the haunting truth of his wounded past, his spiritually impoverished present and his woeful future.

Registration Form

What We Expect

We are looking for performers suited to the roles of this particular musical theater piece which requires acting, singing and, for a portion of the cast, dancing ability. It is not mandatory that all auditionees are experienced singers and dancers, but they must sing reasonably well and on pitch and they need to move well if they are to be in a dance scene.

Any conflicts with the schedule must be addressed at auditions.
All absences can greatly affect the entire staff and cast and will weigh heavily on casting decisions. Everyone auditioning is required to confirm on their registration form that they have reviewed and are in fact available for all dates on the ensemble schedule. Although rare exceptions are at times negotiable, you must be able to participate in all tech week rehearsals and performances, otherwise we ask that you refrain from our public audition and instead contact our office to inquire about special arrangements. Absences from regular rehearsals can be planned for in advance but you must list all planned absences on your registration form at the time of your audition.

All participants invited to join the cast will be required to again sign a contract of committment to the rehearsal schedule at our first rehearsal. Any absence not listed on your audition form or brought to our attention via email prior to your confirmed entrance into the cast may result in the loss of an assigned role(s) or involvement in the production.

What You Can Expect

The audition will begin with a plenary session to welcome auditionees and hopefully make them feel comfortable!

The team of directors will have an opportunity to hear and observe performers in a variety of settings:

?A simple song will be introduced in a group setting and this will be sung together as a choral piece. Afterward everyone will take part in some exploratory acting exercises and improvisation.

Most auditionees will have an opportunity to sing for our vocal director privately, but not all who audition will be selected to read for parts with our producing director. Some auditionees will also be selected to take part in a short and simple dance routine.

Selected individuals will be assigned readings to perform with others before our producing director which may be held at the time of the audition or, if the director has need, at a later callback to accomodate matching specific persons together for scene work and stage chemistry.
